At the feet of the Sint-Michielsbrug and right in front of the Korenmarkt, you'll find the Sphinx cinema. One of the arthouse movie theatres of Ghent, providing 5 cinema halls and a pub with terrace.
You're at the right place for national & European films, worldcinema and American independent movies. Next to that, they provide a wide range especially for families.
The cinema hosts different festivals like the Film Fest Gent, the Youth film festival and Courtisane, but even organises their own film events. The pub is open daily from 12:00 to midnight.
We thank Sphinx Cinema for enabling us to listen and experience some great talks from a cosy cinema seat.
Belgium, beers, chocolate, even a freakin' castle in the city centre! Ghent breathes history but is also brimming with culture and modern city life. The city's highlights include the Mystic Lamb, the acclaimed lighting plan which illuminates the buildings in a magical way after sunset, the Ghent Festivities and the largest range of veggie offerings in Europe. (If you're not up to local or veggie food and drinks, don't be afraid: we have a McDonalds next to the venue.)
Tourists love to have a 'peperjeneverken' at Dreupelkot, drink some local Belgian beers at one of our many scenic pubs, eat traditional 'neuzekes' at the Groentenmarkt or take in the sights at the Graslei and Korenlei.
Not yet convinced? Ghent's history, art, wonderful architecture, water, rock ’n roll top gastronomy and joie de vivre are sure to win you over. The city also makes every effort to ensure that visitors enjoy their stay, including the thousands of students who provide Ghent with a fresh young vibe every academic year.
In the centre of this place we call a city, lies the vintage Sphinx cinema where we hope to welcome you.
